A review of Horton Grange Country House Hotel and Restaurant.

HORTON Grange Country House Hotel and Restaurant is an upmarket establishment that serves the best of British cuisine. Its decor is country house chic with burgundy and old gold in the lounge, while the dinning room, which overlooks the Japanese water garden, has a more modern feel.  Altogether it presents an air of understated elegance and class.

The welcome is friendly and relaxed and the serving team are professionals who offer a personal touch.

One popular starter is the deep-fried blue cheese fritters with tomato chutney and salad leaves. Equally good is the tomato and warm goat’s cheese tart with pesto.

The grilled lemon sole with capers, parsley, al dente beans and sliced shallots is gorgeous while the peppered fillet steak with thick cut chips and mixed salad is simply out of this world.

Many diners opt for the rhubarb and sauterne trifle with candied orange. Another favourite dessert is the clementine sorbet with pistachio tuille.

Horton Grange Country House has a car park and is fully accessible to disabled diners.

It is open from noon to 14:00 and 18:30 to 21:30 on Mondays to Saturdays and noon to 14:00 0n Sundays. Prior booking on 01661 860686 is essential due to the frequent functions that are held at Horton Grange country House

Horton Grange is about one and one half miles north of Dinnington, which lies on the north side of Newcastle upon Tyne.
