A luxury hotel and spa at the entrance to the Scottish Highlands.
KNOCK Castle Hotel and Spa at Crieff is a former Scottish Baronial mansion, which has been converted into a luxury hotel. It is an impressive building standing on a lofty site in this bustling tourist town.
Jason Henderson and his family have been carrying out a systematic refurbishment since they bought this ancient building.
There is a comfortably furnished lounge, which is ideal for planning the day’s itinerary or relaxing after it with a warming dram.
One suite, the Lady Macbrayne, named after a ferry and bus magnate and former owner of the castle has a large sitting room, beautiful bedroom with a wood four-poster bed and two bathrooms, one with a brilliant spa bath.
There is a swimming pool and gymnasium beside the spa, which is well equipped and long-established. Among the treatments is the marine thermal therapy which certainly eases aching joints.
The restaurant has a number of small alcoves, which make the ideal setting for a romantic supper. Jason Henderson has produced an impressive menu, which is largely based on locally sourced produce.
Knock Castle makes an ideal base for anglers and golfers. Visitors can explore the Trossachs National Park, which has been rightly described as the Highlands in Miniature. There is always the Famous Golf Experience for lovers of Scotland’s greatest product and export.
Crieff is 17 miles west of Stirling, the Gateway to the Highlands on the A85 road.
