A review of Sabatti’s, an Italian restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne.
SICILIAN FLAVOUR
SABATINI Ristorante on the Quayside of Newcastle upon Tyne has gained a reputation for the quality of its Italian, particularly Sicilian cuisines.
It has a chocolate and cream decor with good lighting and the full wall mirror makes it appear double its size.
The Brisk, hard-working and efficient serving team always offer a cordial welcome.
Grilled mixed vegetables an the Insalata tiepida cel contadino make very acceptable starters.
There is an excellent fillet glazed with a brandy, lobster and crayfish sauce and served with an al dente vegetable side dish of cauliflower, beans, carrots and potatoes. The veal with Parma ham, deep-fried sage served on a well-seasoned mound of creamy arborio rice is also very good.
A panettone pudding with spiced sultanas and vanilla ice cream is a great dessert. Others may prefer the profiteroles with choux pastry and chocolate butter icing.
There is street parking outside of Sabatini’s, but is probably best to use the nearby multi-storey car park in Dean Street. Sabatini’s is only partially accessible to disabled customers.
It is open from 10:30 to 22:30 on Mondays to Saturdays.
Sabatini’s is near the Newcastle’s iconic Tyne Bridge and can be contacted on 0191 4415
