A review of the Milestone Hotel at Kensington in London.
THE Milestone in Kensington, London is the epitome of luxurious living. Concierges, doormen, butlers: it has everything.
Rain was hurtling down when I arrived at the hotel, but doorman armed with a umbrella rushed out to the car to usher me over to glass and highly polished brass doors.
The hotel stands on the site of a private home, Kensington House, which was built on 1689 and replaced by a grand mansion during the 1880s
It has a total of 45 bedrooms, 12 suites and six two-bedroom flats, many of which overlook Kensington Gardens.
My suite had its own balcony and 16 original artworks. There was a massive bed, that was large enough to get lost in and all the mod cons including flatscreen TV and MP3 docking stations.
Breakfast in Cheneston’s (the original spelling of Kensington) is a help yourself buffet of fruit, cereal, pastries, muffins and yoghurt.
There is the Stable Bar on an equestrian theme or the Conservatory for drinks. Guests can have tea and scones in the lounge or pamper themselves in sauna, gym or heated resistance pool.
Milestone has won many awards, which probably accounts for the extremely high repeat bookings by highly satisfied guests
