Football is a national obsession in Britain and the leagues attract the best players in the world because the clubs can pay the highest wages due to the revenue that they receive from the supporters. If you are planning to visit the United Kingdom, I would suggest going to a Premiership game to sample the atmosphere. This will also ensure a great day out for the kids. Which team you go to watch will obviously depend on which city you are in. If you are in London then you will be spoilt for choice, but I would suggest going to watch Arsenal as they play a more attractive brand of football than any of the other London teams and their prices are so much cheaper. If you are in Manchester you could go and watch Manchester United or Manchester City and both are also in the Champions League this season if you are able to get tickets to one of these midweek European matches. I would definitely recommend going to watch Manchester United rather than City however, as they have Wayne Rooney who is always capable of the spectacular, and City play a much more defensive brand of football.
If your kids are not fans of football, I would suggest taking them to one of the UK’s many theme parks instead. Alton Towers is a good option if you have teenagers, whereas Legoland is probably more suitable for younger children. If you are planning to go to Alton Towers, make sure you check out their website to find Alton Towers hotel deals and save yourself some money. If you are travelling without children, a plan might be to visit one of the UK’s many spas that are dotted throughout the countryside. You can get deals on spa breaks in England by having a look on the internet at the discounts available on numerous websites, or you could use lastminute.com’s ‘secret hotel’ deal to stay in a four or five star hotel that has a spa as part of its facilities.
