London has a population of over seven million people, it is the UK’s largest city. Here is why you should take a holiday or vacation there.
Conjuring up London brings many images to mind. For instance the Houses Of Parliament and Big Ben, Tower Bridge and the City, London’s financial district. They all make fantastic tourist attractions.
Most notably in the City is the Gherkin. Opened in 2004, the 591-foot skyscraper dwarfs the rest of London with its sheer size. Although the skyscrapers are nowhere near as big as those of American cities, they are still an fascinating features for tourists.
Along the Southbank (the path along the Thames River), you will find other tourist attractions. Tower Bridge which is an iconic symbol of London was built in the 19th century. More recently, the London Eye was built at the start of the Millennium. It has become the country’s most popular tourist attraction, with more than 3 million visitors every year.
The gobsmackingly large ferris wheel has 32 egg-shaped capsules which hold up to 25 people. It is a must on any trip to London. From the top you can see across the city for long distances, right into the haze.
Where can you stay in London? Many hotels are available, and if you’re on a budget, you can stay in a trendy hostel such as those on www.piccadillyhostels.net
Where can you eat? You’ll be spoilt for choice. Any food you can imagine can be bought in London. Or alternatively, if you’re on a budget, there’s plenty of fast food joints.

Visit the Churches, many let you in for free. Donate a pound or 2 for their upkeep. Walk through the shopping arcades. Window shopping costs you nothing. Visit the big museums for free. Take in the Changing of the Guard. Buy sandwiches at Mark & Spencers from 2 pounds up and take them to the Embankment to eat and gaze out over the Thames. London has many free sites to see. Check the net for free walking tours and join one.
