YO! Sushi!, the ground-floor restaurant in Fenwick’s Department Store, Newcastle upon Tyne serves Japanese delicacies on a conveyor belt.  It is contemporary, bright and cheerful with a buzzy feel. There is always a warm friendly welcome and the serving staff are happy to advise customers about the meals.

Diners sit on stools or at tables next to the conveyer belt and make their selections.  The menu is not just raw fish in a ball of rice and enveloped is seaweed. There are dozens of other meals including noodles, beef, chicken, duck, prawns and a host of vegetarian selections.

One of the best starters is the miso soup: a soy bean broth with seaweed, tofu and spring onion.

Many diners order a variety of veggie rice and Japanese noodle dishes to form a base for their main selection.  These can range from crispy fried chicken to grilled aubergine in a garlic, sesame and ginger dressing.

Yo! Sushi has a large range of desserts such as dorataki pancakes with a custard filling and raspberry dipping sauce, bowls of sliced grapes, melon, pineapple and strawberries or a delicious chocolate and hazelnut shortbread biscuit.

It is open from 11:00 to 17:30 on Mondays to Wednesdays and Fridays, 11:00 to 20:00 on Thursdays, 11:00 to 18:00 on Saturdays and 11:00 to 17:00 on Sundays.

The side tables in Yo! Sushi! Are accessible to disabled diners.
