Aerochute: Powered Parachute

The aerochute is one of the cheapest and most enjoyable ways to fly.
Here is some footage of the aerochute in flight.
The aerochute is a simple and incredibly safe way to fly. It was specifically designed with safety and ease of operation in mind. The aerochute is not capable of stalling or spinning and in the case of engine failure the aerochute then becomes an unpowered parachute and simply glides back down for a safe landing.

The aerochute takes off with the parachute above you. The propeller inflates the canopy and propels the aircraft forward until the parachute is fully inflated above the aircraft. It is then able to takeoff. The aerochute can take off within 10-15 metres of runway. Ascending and descending is controlled by the amount of power used through the foot throttle. Steering is controlled by the two toggles within the cockpit and are used to steer the aircraft left and right and flareing when both toggles are pulled.

The parachute is a 15 cell ram air canopy. It covers a total 370 square feet and made of rip stop nylon. The parachute is designed to neither spin or stall. The engine is a 2 stroke rotax 503, it can put out up to 52 horse power and is either fitted with a 2 or 3 blade propeller. The fuel tank can hold a total of 30 litres which provides up to two hours flying time.
