Three Natural Wonders

Some of the most beautiful places that were spawned by nature.
There are some places on this planet that are too beautiful for words. Some awe-inspiring places are feats of human ingenuity while others are created by the Earth itself. Natural wonders are amazing because the forces that created them are not controlled by man, we can only observe them and be amazed by the power of Nature to create. The following are just three of these many wonders here in Earth. Three places that man-kind merely stumbled upon.
The Great Barrier Reef

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef on the planet. Located off of the northeast coast of Australia, The Great Barrier Reef stretches for 1,600 miles and is the only thing made of living organisms that can be seen from outer space.
The Great Barrier Reef is made of invertebrate Coral Polyps and like all coral reefs it is home to a vast array of sea creatures. Visitors to the Great Barrier Reef can go snorkeling or diving to observe these creatures. The reef itself is stunning, the colors of the reef are so vivid as to be almost unrealistic. The Great Barrier Reef is one of the most stunning natural occurrences on Earth.
The Great Barrier Reef is taken care of by The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park. Fishing is strictly limited in the area because the eco-system of a coral reef depends on the creatures that make their home there and the balance is very delicate. The stability of the The Great Barrier Reef can easily be affected by pollution, fresh water pouring into the ocean and natural predators. Coral bleaching is a very big problem on this Earth today so we must be very careful not to destroy this beautiful underwater masterpiece.
Angel Falls

In 1912 Sir Arthur Conan Doyle published The Lost World a story about an expedition into a rain-forest awash with prehistoric creatures. It is said that the world created by Doyle in his novel was inspired by the Guayana Highlands in Venezuela where Angel Falls is located.
Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world. Making Angel Falls even more amazing are the lush rain-forests that surround it. The falls run straight out of the top of an Auyan-Tepui, or tabletop mountain, and then plummet 3,212 feet into the Karep River which then flows into the Churun River.
Angel Falls and The Guayana Highlands are virtually untouched by man. It is easy to imagine pre-historic beasts roaming the area. Taking a trip to Angel Falls is no leisurely stroll, but it’s well worth the effort.
The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon in Arizona is not the largest canyon in the world, but it is breath-taking nevertheless. The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long and is as wide as 18 miles in some places. It is difficult to say what created the canyon, but the Colorado River is the most likely culprit.
The Grand Canyon is a geological boon. Over millions of years of erosion at the site layers of rock and sediment have been exposed. Some of these layers are millions or perhaps even billions of years old so geologists are able to see what may have happened in the area from then until now.
Despite the harsh whether conditions and even harsher soil, plant and wildlife thrive at The Grand Canyon. there are currently an estimated 500 species of fish, amphibian, bird, reptile and nearly 2,000 species of plants living in and around the canyon. There are very strict guidelines for hunting and fishing in The Grand Canyon so that these life-forms may thrive.
Visitors can view The Grand Canyon from the amazing Skywalk, a bridge that juts out 4,000 feet over the canyon. There is lodging and guided tours for visitors, so it easy to spend a few days and really appreciate all aspects of this natural wonder.
