World’s Most Interesting and Amazing Islands

Check out the seven out of thousands islands in the world.
1. Palm Islands in Dubai


A palm-shaped man-made island in Dubai is divided in three which are The Palm Deira ,The Palm Jumeirah, and Palm Jebel Ali. These are the three largest artificial islands in the world. All materials are from United Arab Emirates. The Palm Deira approximately composed of 1 billion cubic meters of rock and sand while the The last two islands will approximately composed of 100 million cubic meters of rock and sand also.
2. Easter Island in Chile

Easter Island is in Polynesian triangle in Chile, and it was the Chile’s special territory. The island is famous for “moai”, a monumental statues created by the Rapanui people. Easter Island is one of the most isolated inhabited islands in the world, it’s called “Easter Island” by a Dutch explorer encountered this place on “Easter Sunday”.
3. The Principality of Sealand
The Principality of Sealand is a World’s smallest island and micronation. It is located in HM Fort Roughs in the North Sea, six miles away from Suffolk, England. a former British Army Major and former Radio Broadcaster Paddy Roy Bates and his family occupied the installation since 1967. He claims that the island is a independent and sovereign state. Sealand is sometimes cited an interesting case study of how various principles can be applied to a territorial dispute because the island is claims to legitimacy and sovereignty.
4. Gunkanjima in Japan

Gunkanjima also known as Ghost and forbidden Island, it is located in Nagasaki, Japan. It was populated of coal mining facility from 1887 to 1974. The abandoned concrete buildings is the notable features of this island and among 505 uninhabited islands in the Nagasaki. Coal mines began shutting down in 1960 when petroleum replaced coal all over the country. In 1974, Mitsubishi officially announced the closing of the mine, it’s bare and empty now, that’s why they called it as a Ghost Island. Travel to Gunkanjima is currently prohibited.
5. Maldive Islands in Maldives

In terms of both population and area, Maldives is the smallest Asian country and smallest predominantly Muslim nation in the world. It is located in south of India’s Lakshadweep Islands and 435 miles away from south-west of Sri Lanka. The government prioritized the development of the fisheries sector because their economy is dependent fishing and other marine products for centuries and fishing is the main occupation of the people there.
6. Surtsey in Iceland

Surtsey is an emerging and a volcanic island, after the explosion on the morning of Novembe 14, 1963, and it was became the formation of a brand-new island. And the new island called Surtsey, means “Surtur’s Island”, it was named after “Surtur” or “Surtr” the giant from Norse mythology. Surtsey Island is marked is a new southernmost point of Iceland.
7. Alcatraz Island in USA
Alcatraz Island is a home for the first lighthouse on the Pacific Coastin San Francisco Bay in California, it is a small island that served as a lighthouse. Juan de Ayala was the first European who discover this island in 1775 and named the island as a “La Isla de los Alcatraces”, (meaning: “Island of the Pelicans”). Alcatraz Island became the first long-term prison of the Army and later became the famous federal prision and finally a recreation area.

u could have added the car nicobar islands with the ross island and the light house and lovely creepers and dried out plants

Amazing article, so well researched, fabulous photo pix — I am breathless with your talent to put together such wonder! I live in a country of islands – on the North Island of New Zealand, and we have a very similar island to the one you’ve titled -Surtsey in Iceland- ours is called White Island and the volcanic smoke rises most of the time as it is always active.
