An article about worldwide taxis.

The drivers of London’s black cabs learn their trade the hard way. Taxi drivers must take an exam, but as a result they are one of the best-paid taxi drivers.

In Mexico, taxi drivers charge passengers more then they should, I think they do that, because of minimum fare, which is less then 1 pound.

In Mahajanga, Madagascar, taxi drivers are very young. They make only 3,50 pounds a week. Well, then these boys are climbing up a hill they shout out to passers-by, to get behind the cart and pousse pousse.

Conversely than in Mahajnaga, in Hong Kong drivers are very old. This is because the city has decided to stop using rickshaws. Moreover, these taxi drivers pay no attention to traffic laws.

In Marocco, people have a choice of different taxis. “Grand taxis” for long journeys, between cities and “pettis taxis” for shorter trips. Moreover “pettis taxis” are confined to the city limits.

In Surakarta, Indonesian bicycle rickshaws are unique in that the passengers sit at the front. For this reason passengers especially afraid of accidents. Also it’s very cheap: a minimum fare is less then one pound.

The most expensive taxis are found in Venice, Italy. A journey in a gondola will coast you at least 28 pounds. Also taxi drivers must take an exam.
