Searching youtube I came across this amazing video! It show how many flights are made everyday around the globe! The airplanes are spotted with a yellow dot and they move in the direction of their destination. I didn’t know that there are so many flights per day! You are going to be excited! After some time you will see that Europe is completely swarmed by planes! You can’t see the land, just yellow dots covering Europe!

This video was created by some researchers in Zurich. It’s an animation based on the information given by www.flightstats.com. It’s duration is 70 seconds and represents a full 24 hour day.

Some thoughts about the video

• Most airplanes leave USA during the night to arrive at Europe early in the morning
• The same thing happens with airplanes leaving Europe during the night to arrive early in the morning in many places on the globe
• Contrary to other continents, Africa has the fewest flight.
• Airplanes avoid deserts (and I don’t know why)
• There are planes that travel over Antarctica and North pole!
