A luxury hotel in the Scottish Highlands.
BOATH House Hotel at Nairn, Scotland is a magnificent Regency House dating back to the early 19th Century. It stands in 20 acres of mature ground, just off the A96 road between Aberdeen and Inverness.
Visitors are welcomed with a dram in the elegant drawing room, while their bags are being taken up to their rooms.
Don and Wendy Matheson bought the building, which was on Historic Scotland’s endangered list, and worked on it as a labour of love.
It is a smallish hotel with only eight rooms, but it has won four AA Rosettes for food and three AA Red Stars for accommodation in the last ten years.
There are two butler-service rooms: one of which has a splendid vaulted ceiling, modern styling with a free-standing bath, magnificent wet room and a separate dining area with private access to the gardens.
The decor combines a mixture of classic architecture and contemporary design. The walls are covered with paintings by artists from the Highlands and Islands.
Charlie Lockley, the head chef focuses heavily on locally sourced produce for his fixed choice seven course dinners.
Visitors are able the visit the 1746 battlefield of Culloden, explore the picturesque villages of the Moray coast or even try and spot the legendary Loch Ness Monster
