How to Survive a Road Trip

Ever have to go hours on end in a stuffy car with younger(or older) siblings, a pet, and country music? Here are a few tips to ease your pain.
As the summer season rolls around your parent(s) might have a wonderful idea to load everyone in a car and drive those 20+ hours to go see grandma! Lovely, except baby Jimmy keeps throwing stuff, the dog won’t keep still, and the secondary driver in the passengers seat is trying to have a nap.
What can you do to ease this excruciating discomfort?
Well through lots of experience (and inummerable trips) I can help.
1. The first and best thing you can do is take of your shoes. It immediatly increases comfort level.
2. Give little Jimmy a gameboy or something, and make sure the batteries are charged, that should keep him out of your hair untill he falls asleep.
3. To drown out the horrible country music, and the drivers inssecent singing, pop in your ipod and put the music at just the right level that it blocks them out. But not too loud or you might kill the hearing cells in your ears.
4. While you still have daylight I suggest you read, there is nothing worse then finally getting out that book as the sun starts to set.
5. Use the bathroom at EVERY rest stop, I don’t care if you don’t have to go because 15 minutes after you pull out of the stop you will have to go.
6. Take the gameboy back, Jimmy will be passed out by now.
7. While at a gas station/rest stop after you have gone to the bathroom, walk around for a few minutes to get the feeling back into your legs.
8. Dress lightly, to many layers can be extremely uncomfortable.
9. Take a nap! Make sure you have a sweater or a small pillow under your head though. There is nothing worse then driving over a bump and having your head smash into the window.
10. And finally, make sure you have plenty of snacks around you. A road trip is the perfect excuse to pig out!
That concludes my advice on how to survive a road trip! Although if you have your license/learner’s you maight want to take a jaunt at the wheel, it’s a great pick-me-up.
Good luck and farewell mon ami, & ma amigos!
