I wrote this article for some laughs. Although driving is a deadly serious business sometimes it is fun to learn some new facts about those metal instruments we rely on each day.
Do you have any clue how many feet of wiring it takes to make your vehicle run? Well the answer surprised even me, there is almost 3000 feet of wiring to make a vehicle work.
What about those airbags, how safe are they? Well, at 200 miles per hour those wonderful safety devises will explode! Ouch! The good side is how many people do you know that is going 200 miles per hour down the interstate? I hope none!
The Brits seem to be doing a lot right with their petrol company making 38,000 pounds every single second of every single day. Those guys are some rich!
Ever wonder how much time you spend through out your life sitting at traffic lights? Well, on average two weeks. I can think of many other ways I could spend two weeks cant you? Like a tropical vacation just to name one.
The Ford Model T set a record back in 1916 with 55 percent of all cars on the road being Model T’s. This record has never been broken by anyone else since.
Deaths on the roadways by drunk drivers is nuts…over 17,000 people in the United States alone die each year. This means that every half hour someone is killed in an alcohol related accident. No wonder the states are cracking down on those laws. Don’t Drink and Drive!!!! Not Ever!!!!
Interesting fact about Motorola. This company decided to develop a record player for cars. The most famous record player at the time was a Victrola so that’s how Motorola got its name. (I don’t think they ever got the record player in the cars but they did find a name for the company.)
Here are some stupid and funny laws still on the books:
If you get caught with a DUI in Taiwan you can choose how you want to be penalized.
In San Francisco California it is illegal to wash your car with under ware. Who does that anyways and if they did I hope they are clean no tread marks for the windshield!
New Jersey is kind of strange state anyways but it is illegal if you are in New Jersey to pump your own gas. That might be nice actually.
In Florida if you are a skate boarder then you will need to get a license. How I have no idea but don’t get caught without one or else.
OK this one isn’t about driving but I figured it was one for you guys…
Now I got the place for all you guys out there who want to see woman topless, in Liverpool England if a woman works in a tropical fish store then she may go topless. This makes no sense to me at all except maybe they figured if the girl isn’t wearing a shirt then they cant get it wet while bending down inside the tank.
West Virginia the only people allowed to ride in baby carriages are babies. Who else would fit?
In Aspen Colorado it is illegal to sleep in your car within city limits. So for those who wanted to go on a trip there and sleep in your car you better make sure you are out of town or the cops may lock you up for the night and impound your car.
If you visit Israel don’t be caught talking on your cell phone or you may be put in jail…it is illegal!
A motorcycle holds the record for a speeding ticket, the State police caught this guy doing 204 miles per hour. I don’t know how much this guy paid for his ticket but I bet it was hundreds if not thousands. Wow, slow down!
OK Kentucky is one of those hillbilly states so this didn’t surprise me much. If you are driving down the road and meet a cow face to face you must tip your hat. I wonder of the cow notices?
My list could go on and on but for now I think this is enough information to absorb from me. Cars are fun and cars can be safe if you the driver make them that way.

Lovely way to start my morning, thanx for the laughs
Great info.
Yes I am from NY and I do appreciate that in NJ I don’t have to pump my own gas because it is illegal. I wonder if they have to go to school to learn how to pump gas? oh well
