These five jobs must be the smelliest ones. If you have weak stomach or sensitive nose, you probably will gag if you have to perform this duty. Thanks to the people who can handle these jobs, we live in a nicer world.

Sewer Workers

If you can’t take foul smell, then this job is not for you. Can you imagine working underground, inside a sewer that has awful smell? Especially in a big city like
New York
, with all of that residential and tourist population … I know I wouldn’t be a good candidate!

Garbage Collectors

This is another field that deals with strong smell, especially in the heat of summer. Without these people, our garbage will be piled up, rotten, and horribly stinky! I have seen things that come out of decay trash that gives me a chill down my spine. At least it’s good to know the trash may be put to good use, like
what GE is doing in Italy.

Plumbers

If you ever have problem with your toilette, you know that this isn’t a job for you. Thankfully,
a plumber
is only a phone call away. The sight of that mess is enough to throw me over the bridge, not to mention the smell. We often complain that they charged an arm and a leg for their service, but really, would you be able to handle it?

Manure or Compost Pile Handlers

Driving by a farm that has a fresh blanket of manure can just kill your nose. If you need any affirmation, while cruising down Interstate 5 in California, you will likely be attacked by such a stench from a
local ranch
. Yet, there stands a house nearby, and children play in front. Because of these people, we have food to eat to nurture of body.

Fish Market Workers

Fisherman’s Wharf
in San Francisco has a variety of wonderful foods if you can make it passed the smell of fish. Most of these stands are in open market, but the smell can be overwhelming. Can you believe that there is a fish recycling plant in
Warrenton, Oregon? That will not be on my field trip list.
