The Nervousness Over Air Travel

The weirdness of traveling by air and the future of air travel.
There is something unnerving to me about air travel. Maybe it’s the fact that I am not in control of the plane and feel a loss of control. Maybe it’s because those take off and landings feel like you are falling out of the sky. Or, it could be that flying at least to me seems unnatural. I have heard a lot of people say; if man was meant to fly he would have given him wings. Great! But the truth it is man who created planes so you could always say that g-d gave man inteligents and man used it to create airplanes. So in a sense he did give us wings!
Now for all you anti-flying nuts, I agree with you, flying is scary, especially, when you hear on the news about atmospheric storms that seem, to ruin the flow of some passenger’s days. Just the other day, I heard about a plane that hit some freak wind spouts that made the plane through people up into the cabin air and make them hit their heads. I am surprised no one got paralyzed! Who needs that?
I believe this will all be put to rest when people have flying cars. Okay flying is not the right word, maybe anti-gravity cars or hover cars. A kind of car that does not technically fly by today’s aerodynamics but stays in the air due to knew scientific breakthroughs that allow anybody how to fly. Then you won’t have to worry about midair tragedies or weather causing a bad day for passengers. You would get in the car. Shoot straight up in the air like a helicopter and fly like a plane. There would be hundreds of highways crossing the sky like in Back to The Future 2. Of course we are heading to 2015 and it does not seem like we have flying cars yet. But one day, maybe not in my life time, we will be flying around getting to and from areas fast. I have said this before. You could talk to a person In Florida, on the internet, and then fly down and meet them.
One day I hope to see the closing of Airports, the retiring of planes and the start of flying cars. No more need to worry about right of way or condemning land to build roads, highways, bridges, and tunnels. It will all be up in the vast sky.
I know that day is coming. One day I’ll turn on the news or read the newspaper about the first hover car and know I and many other futurists predicted that day.
