Crocs: A Revolutionary Shoe?

by Meg2418 on 04/12/08 at 1:21 am

Crocs are liked and disliked among the American population, but what makes them so popular?

Who would have thought a 15 oz. shoe would become revolutionary? Okay, well maybe it hasn’t, but who’s to say it won’t? Plastic is what many believe it is made out of, but actually, it’s made out of PCCS (Proprietary Closed Cell Resin) material. Being first manufactured in 2004, Crocs Footwear has evolved into more than just a shoe, but has weaved its way into becoming comfortable footwear for any age.

In it’s early years, Crocs were simply a shoe sold in one or two styles in a variety of colors. Now, the Croc Empire has grown tremendously. Being invented for outdoor use because of its slip-resistant, non-marking sole, Crocs have become, as some call a fashion statement, although many disagree.

What makes these shoes so different from the rest? Why was there so much talk about them when they came out? Could it be the slip-on feature, the airflow holes, or the fact that they’re easily recyclable? Croslite is a feature that such a unique shoe contains. This material allows the shoe to be:

  • Odor-resistant and Bacteriostatic (preventing bacteria growth)
  • Comfortable
  • Ergonomic (reduces muscle fatigue up to 62.6% more than standing barefoot)
  • Anti Microbial (very easy and convenient to clean)
  • Lightweight
  • Recyclable

Could it possibly be that Crocs fix all of our previous shoe pain history that includes ankle, foot, and knee injuries, or just simply the discomfort from wearing a nice pair of stilettos?  Maybe, some say, but others aren’t so impressed. Although they are much easier on your feet, they aren’t exactly fashionable enough for some individual’s liking.

Although there are much more debatable and important topics out there to discuss, Crocs alone has generated hundreds of forums where individuals question the success of the shoe. Generating a close $48.5 million in 2007, Crocs sales are plummeting lower and lower due to the economy plunge. OH YEAH! many of you are thinking, but the company still has faith in its product.

With Christmas right around the corner, ordering from Crocs.com is convenient, not only because of the prices that reflect quality, but because of their new shoe styles..

Um…yeah these shoes might be affordable and comfortable but they are ugly. Shoes not only have to be comfortable but also stylish and crocs are not. There are plenty of shoes out there that look great but also feel great.
