Tips and tricks that will ensure you pack all the right things whether you’re traveling for a weekend, a week or a month.
The Essentials
- A plain white cotton shirt or tank top
- A pair of jeans
- A bikini and beach towel
- A cotton shirt dress
- A simple LBD
- Black or nude heels
- Dressy flats that can pass for evening wear
- An over-sized cardigan
- Plain black pants
- A bold accessory
- A trench coat
- Sunscreen
- Spanx
- A good book or two
- Make-up bag
- Digital camera and batteries
A Weekend Break
To be well prepared for a weekend away you should only need to pack the Essentials. It’s easy to pack more than you could possibly need for two days, so try to remind yourself that you won’t have time to wear many things. Remember, you can use make-up to dress up or dress down an outfit so you really don’t need to take 5 dresses.
A Week Long Vacation
Packing for a week is similar to packing for a weekend, with more basics like jeans and T-shirts (and plenty of clean underwear). Take the things you wear often and feel comfortable in, not what you feel you should wear. You don’t need to bring a different top and bottom for each day, as you’ll wear some things more than once. As a rule, try to take a few things out before you close your suitcase.
A Months Trip
Use a large suitcase but only pack the bare minimum as you’ll likely shop up a storm while your away. Before you start to pack research your destination to find out what weather you can expect and any cultural quirks you’ll be expected to adhere to. Add country specific electrical adapters to your Essentials list.
Now relax in the knowledge that packing will be a breeze!
