Traveling solo can be quite exciting and adventurous, yet one has be very careful. Here are some tips to make your solo travel hassle-free.
Have you ever traveled alone? If yes am sure I need not mention how adventurous it can be. But if you haven’t, solo travel is a must at least in a lifetime. The adventure, the thrill and the excitement of traveling solo is beyond words and that’s not all. You can also enjoy myriads of advantages including you don’t have to worry about your co-travelers, you do whatever you want and much more. But solo travel can also turn disastrous if not careful.
So if you planning to travel solo, here are some tips to help you enjoy a hassle free travel.
· Try to pack as light as you can. As you are traveling alone, you won’t have anyone to watch over your luggages while going to washroom, waiting in the line to buy your bus ticket or train ticket.
· When traveling alone, it is always advisable to stay in a family run B&B or a youth hostel as this will allow you to mingle with other travelers and locals. Even if you can afford to rent a cab to explore the city, try a tour bus. Am sure you will enjoy the companion of other travelers from different parts of the globe.
· No matter where you are heading, please try to learn at least some basic local dialects, such as ‘where is the airport’, ‘toilet’, nearest hotel and police stations.
· Knowing even the slightest of local language always pays off. Never take out your map and read it in the streets, if you feel you are lost or you need to know the direction, go to a cafe, grab a bite and do the map reading.
· I known while traveling, being a part of its nightlife is a must but please be careful. Try to stay away from alcohol or drugs. At least know your limit as you are traveling alone, you don’t have anyone to watch your back incase if you get stoned.
· Always get a photocopy of all your documents including passport and keep it in a safe place. Don’t even think of carrying all your cash in one place.
Well, these are some tips that you need to be careful of while traveling alone. If you have any idea or tips, do share it.

I’ve been traveling solo for almost 2 years now. There is truth in what you say. If you can travel around the world by yourself, you can pretty much do anything.

Nice articles!!
I think it’s very important to always have the number of your country’s embassy with you while you’re travelling.

I’ve traveled loads by myself and it’s great for meeting new people but don’t be desperate.
It can be difficult to get rid of you new ‘friends’…as in life, choose your friends wisely! Traveling can be lonely but it’s won’t last long. Besides, there’s always a post card you ‘must’ send!

Great article!! Here is something I did in the past. I carried an extra wallet with a few bank notes and expired creditcards. And it worked out once in Bratislava, Slovak Republic. Two police officers at the train station tried to make me pay fine for smoking on the platform. By the way, that was total BS. They escorted me to the cash machine to withdraw the money to pay the fine, but expired cards did not work and they ended up let me go.
