The Should-Haves on Long Trips

Things to pack when you are planning for a long trip. What you should pack for long trips.
Below are some suggestions on what else to consider when you are preparing for a long trip. Read on!
BASICS
Extra Food and Water – especially if you are planning a no-stop-points drive to your destination. Extra food and water will also come in handy if your stomach grumbles in the middle of the night — and there ain’t a 7-eleven store nearby! Clothing – You might wonder why I included clothing (isn’t it obvious duh?). Bringing your winter coat for a Puerto Galera beach vacation is totally stupid. Consider the temperature and season (rainy or sunny) of the place and pack according to them. The culture of the people should also be noted. Avoid wearing backless or super short shorts (for women) when you are in a conservative society.

**Puerto Galera, Philippines is a good vacation spot.
Cellphone/PDA – Although most people will include this in their can’t-live-without list of items, some still prefer to go on vacation without his cellphone. You will immediately feel very far away from your work and your boss’ phone calls by doing so. iPod – You would need this whenever you are on the long, boring and butt-burning part of your trip. Video Camera/Digital Camera – Okay, so you arrived at your destination safely. But there is one problem — you forgot your camera for those first, second until last picture-perfect moments of the place. **Also keep in mind to pack a prayer before you leave so that you will always be safe. OPTIONAL Gag bag – very convenient especially if you are travelling with the kids or if you have motion sickness. The bag can also hold rocks (avid rock-collector!) or other similar stuffs. GPS/map/Guide – are you the type of person who always get lost? Consider a GPS (Global Positioning System) or a map if you are or else, you will spend the rest of your vacation asking directions. I have to put this on the optional part because some of my friends say that leaving them will mean a greater (therefore more enjoying) trip. Notebook and Pen – If are not easily satisfied with mere pictures or videos of your trip, or if you are writing a blog, then consider a notebook and a pen in packing. These will also help you remember dates, names and things the locals of the place say to you. Pepper Spray/Stun Gun – for security purposes.
