Here are three places that you should visit if you can.
Giza pyramid complex

What?
Giza is a Necropolis, and it consists in a complex of pyramids, being the Great Pyramid of Giza the only remaining building of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. It is also an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Where?
It is located in Egypt, which is in the North-East of Africa. This city stands in the Sahara desert, along the Nile Delta. The Nile, being the longest river in the world, was vital for the Egyptian civilization.
Who and How?
These pyramids are thought to be built by slaves of the Egyptian pharaohs. Scientists think that slaves were captured from their villages, and were forced to work in the pyramids. These monuments were constructed using building blocks of stone, which were sculpted and moved by thousands of slaves.
Chichén Itzá

What?
It is one of the most important remaining of the pre-Hispanic civilizations in America. It was named as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, in 2007 by the UNESCO.
Where?
It is located in Yucatan Peninsula, which is in Southeastern Mexico, and separates the Caribbean Sea from the Gulf of Mexico. The area where that monument stands is predominated by short and tall dry tropical jungles.
Who and How?
Chichen Itza was funded in the year 525 by the Itzaes, who were druids of the Mayan Civilization. Different buildings were constructed in this city, for example Ball Courts, Churches, Sacrifice places and a Temple of Warriors.
Roman Colosseum

What?
The Colosseum is a large building made by the Roman Empire. It is an amphitheatre built in elliptical shape, which can seat more than 60.000 spectators.
Where?
It stands in Rome, the capital of Italy; at the East of the Roman Forum. Thousands of people travelled there in order to watch the gladiator battles, executions and many other acts that the Emperors made for the espectators.
Who and How?
It was built by the Emperor Vespasiano, and the construction started in the year 70 BC. Ten years later it was finished, by the Emperor Tito. Also, it was modified during the empire of Domiciano. The last games were celebrated in the VI Century.

It is awesome how men could have built these monuments when there was nothing but human hands to do the work. Imagine the momentous task of lefting and placing these stones.Even with the leverage poles they used.
