More and more women now travel alone. There are many advantages of traveling alone such as freedom to explore your new surroundings, a sense of independence, and a boost of self esteem.  But there are many challenges, ranging from loneliness to safety that makes solo travel difficult enough that many women never attempt it. But by preparing well and following some tips you can get the most out of a trip:-

  • Travel with less luggage

When travelling alone heavy baggage is a greater factor than you would think. Lugging your heavy load up and down the stair in airport, train stations and sub way station can be quit cumbersome.

  • Arrive during the day

Arriving during the day gives you many advantages such as you’ll be able to find a place to stay and get your bearings before dark. So try to arrive in new cities during the day.

  • Protect yourself

Check the law of the country you are traveling to before putting a weapon in you bag. Do pack in a pepper spray it is the best alternative to any type of weapon. And the most important thing always carry a mobile phone with you.

  • Remain clean

Bring your own toilet paper, sanitizers, wet wipes and everything else you need to keep it clean.

  • Dress sensibly

Check out what constitutes ‘appropriate dress’ in the place you are travelling to. This doesn’t necessarily mean wearing the traditional dress. Safe dressing is always a good idea when travelling alone. You don’t want to appear easy.

  • Some must packs

Some must pack items that you must carry with you are a small handbag, just big enough for your valuable documents, comfy shoes, compact make-up and maps.

  • Avoid carrying valuable things

Never carry anything valuable with you if it is not essential.

  •  Keep in touch

Keep in touch with your friends or family either through e-mail or phone so that people at home know about where you are.
