Travelling Tips

Here are some ways to help make travelling more stress free.
I love to travel, the smell of the airport, being able to walk around duty free shops while waiting and even the airplane food is to me the start of a new adventure. The last thing I want is to ruin my trip by forgetting something and end up stressing about it. So here are a couple of things that I usually take note of before I leave.
1. Do some research. You don’t have to do an extensive study on the place you are going. But it will be beneficial if you at least check the weather/ season to help guide you on the clothes you pack. Taking some time to also find out what good places, food and attractions there are in your area of destination will also help give you a clue as to what things you can explore when you get there.
2. Pack extra. Not unless you plan on doing your own laundry, it will be best to pack some extra clothes just for emergency.
3. Less is more. Try packing light, to lessen the hassle of lugging around a heavy luggage. Bring traveler sized toiletry products, and leave behind things you don’t really need.
4. Bring extra cash. It’s never a good idea to run short of cash when travelling. Keep small amounts in the pocket of your bag/ luggage for emergency. Also, try not to put all your money in one place, this will help you at least have a reserve of sorts when you’re in need.
5. Keep a photocopy of your visa and passport at home. Just in case you find yourself without your travelling documents, you can easily call home and arrange for a way back.
6. Wear comfortable clothes. Bring clothes that you know will be appropriate to the place/ country you will be visiting. Make sure you’re comfortable especially if the travel is long. A flat pair of shoes and a jacket might come in handy when inside the plane.
7. Don’t forget your camera. If you are off for a vacation, make sure you bring your camera along to help you keep those memories long after your trip.
8. Bring basic medicines. Keep with you a small pouch filled with your basic medicine. Medications for dizziness, colds, fever, diarrhea, constipation will help especially if you are travelling to a country with a different language.
9. Secure your place. Before leaving home, do remember to unplug all appliances to keep safe. Lock your doors and if you do have pets, make sure you leave them to a friend or a relative to make sure someone cares for them in your absence.
10. Bring a book or your iPod. Keep yourself entertained by bringing with you your own entertainment – be it a book, a small toy or your music.
