This is absolutely ridiculous. I can’t speak for other places, but for Uganda, the LRA is no longer active and is in fact ACTIVE in peace talks. Plus, the war was in the NORTH, while most of Uganda’s tourist attractions are in the south and the west. Do you homework.

Let me clarify: I AM A JOURNALIST, or “media person,” as you like to say. AND I LIVE IN UGANDA.

Where will you be sent? Wherever the news is. But this is a list of countries to VISIT, no? If you were making a list of countries to live in, I would STILL say Uganda is pretty damn good compared to most African nations. The ease of living here is incredible, and the violence in the North you talk about is really coming to a slow end. When was the last LRA attack? Not any time recently.

As for where media will go, right now, they’d go to where the ebola is or to other current crisis. But, there’s not much “new” news from the North. You wouldn’t be able to get many freelance gigs or clips trying to pitch something about “everything fizzling down right now… not much going on….”

Tourists come to Uganda all the time and it’s pretty damn safe. So really, I’m not sure why Uganda is on the list. The LRA isn’t going to attack anyone visiting Murchison falls anytime soon.

Umm, I’m in Invisible Children and I think whats going on in Northern Uganda is pretty bad, so yeah its okay to go visit there as long as you’re not a child, where you will get abducted and all the families there are being put in horrible displacement camps. Look up Invisible Children and tell me if you still think Uganda is better off than most African countries.

There is 100% no doubt that UGANDA is a safe country. The sights are really beautiful and breath taking

Sorry to get in the way of the heated discussions, but I was looking for places to visit and came onto this site and all these places listed seem quite interesting, different places which i would quite like to see. So some say they are dangerous, others not so much, but being a girl most places are significantly more dangerous for us than they are for men, so how many would you suggest going with to prevent the danger from being too high and is there any place which would be extremely unadvisable. What would everyone elses top 10 worst places to visit be??

i think that Soomalia shouldn\’t be on this list because only the capital city needs help not the rest of the country. I\’ve also had the pleasure of visiting the central parts of the country this past summer and it was breath taking. the only reason why the capital city (Mugdishu) looks bad is because of the war, before the war it looked amazing. And as for the movie, the country it was shot wasn\’t even Somalia, it was Kenya.

Guys.. I know how it looks like from the news every thing about Pakistan… But trust me I have visited there recently couple of months back. I was scared in the start but after seeing hospitality of local people I started feeling better and especially North Pakistan is worth watching.
Secondly who ever added Thailand in this list is simply I agree never been to Thailand. Islands their gives you sight of your life.

will i had to say that your list had some mistakes in it!!

1.Indonesia : will i don’t see NYC , you can’t add it to the worst … Indonesia is third best to me after Maldives & Norway .. it had excellent beaches ,nice culture and not that expensive ..

2. Palestine : 100% the opposite of what you hear on the news or find in the Internet .. actually i didn’t want to visit it because what everyone says about it , i visit Jordan and someone convince me to go there .. but believe me .. it’s amazing country and very unique , i really visited it 3 times … if you are christian you will love it more than your own country …

I just got back from a round the world trip and I would say Indonesia and Thailand were 2 of my favourite places to visit. Dont be put off my this article as you will really miss out. The people in Indonesia were the friendliest I met on my trip and its such an interesting country with amazing sites and delicious food and its so cheap! I had no trouble there, I didn’t experience any crime and felt totally safe.

I think Thailand has the best tourism to travel by. Bangkok is the best city in Southeast Asia… Think about Burma (Myanmar), Bangladesh, India and Pakistan are the worst country to get by.

sorry if I’m a bit biased, but i am from Thailand ( bangkok ,) and I think that Thailand is not dangerous NOW, but Thailand is really dangerous THEN. Before, there was a mob, closed down the bangkok airport, etc. which might get you tourists frightened. But don’t worry, everything is over now and peace is restored to this country. If you don’t believe, go to bangkok. You might expierence traffic jams, etc. but you won’t see crimes or stuff like that. Just don’t go to the south ( below Phuket ) of Thailand, THAT place is where people are being killed almost every day.

i also think that our country, the philippines should be in the list… since that our country really sucks… sucks in politics, sucks in economy, and there are also terrorist too..

Yes, it’s true that there are drugs and political issues there. But point being is that there’s no perfect government.

Economy here is not that stable but this is one of the safest place to visit.

I dont think that you can talk about a country from what you watch on television.. You have to live there in order to be able to talk from that point of view. Actually the whole world is becoming worse everyday.. Before telling us not to visit any country you have to tell us who made these countries become worse and worse. So it is not the people over there who are ruining their countries as there is no one who likes to damage his own country.

India and South Africa have to be included in the list. And you AJJ, you should wash your mouth before talking about North Korea. North Korea is not so democratic but that doesn\’t make it a dangerous country to visit. Actually it is only dangerous to their inhabitants, if they decide to talk to a foreigner.

I don’t think Thailand should be on the list. The tsunami was a freak act of nature that may only occur once in hundreds, if not thousands of years. Massive natural disasters can occur anywhere…it’s called earth. I was in Thailand during the tsunami, and I think that Thailand handled the disaster far better than the US handled hurricane Katrina (Unfortunately, I was in hurricane katrina too). While it’s true Thailand is corrupt, it is generally a very safe country to visit and the crime rate in Bangkok is lower than most American cities.

India should be on the list, Philippines and Russia

I don’t think Thailand and Indonesia should be on the list. Obviously that you have never been to any south east asian countries and only freak out because of natural disaster cause or bombing threats. I have been there couple times for work and as tourist. These countries were simply fantastic with friendly people who welcome you and very helpful to foreigners – compare to Indians or Europeans for instance. You will miss a lot by never visiting these countries in south east asia region. Talking about safety, all crimes or bombing threat could happened anywhere even in Europe or USA.

Where on earth is Mexico on this list? The combination of gang violence and goverment corruption make it an ideal candidate for the “worst country list”.

Come on! Bangladesh is with out any question the worst country on Earth! and everyone should know it but they don’t. Because Bangladesh is such a loser’s country that people don’t even know that it exist. Come and visit Bangladesh then you’ll all realize it your self. First of all, this list is idiotic. The degree of danger within a country varies wildly depending on the region you are in or the time which one visits. I would be equally fearful in parts of New Orleans and Detroit at night as I would parts of Baghdad. The inclusion of Thailand and Indonesia solely because they experienced a freak natural disaster in the past pretty much sums up the ignorance of this post. If one insists on such a list, there are obvious glaring omissions. The Pashtun tribal areas of Pakistan/border towns of Mexico/the Tamil region of Sri Lanka.

Pakistan could easily get on the list of the world’s worst countries, I am on a business trip to Karachi and my god! It smells like gasoline sweat and poop all the time, even in the hotel I am staying in, but it can also be one of the best countries as well, they such DELICIOUS food! But the only thing dangerous about Pakistan is that people drive like maniacs on the road.

Based on the recent election in Iran, I think that they should be added to the list of worst countries in the world.

All of these countries that you’ve listed were completely fine before the war that has happened on each one of them. I’ve been to Iraq before America raped it, it was really nice. In terms of places to go, tourist sites to visit.
Indonesia? One of the most beautiful countries i’ve ever visited, are you judging it in terms of the fact that its a muslim country?

Indonesia has some of the most beautiful beaches, spas, visit Bali, or jakarta, these are nice places to go!

Thailand? Is the one place I would DEFINITELY return to anyday, the streets, the malls, the beaches, the Buddhist sites to visit, its all extra-ordinary! Check out Phuket, Bangkok. These are fabulous places to do. I would never think twice about going to visit again. Trust me Philippines is a beautiful country. I’ve been to Palawan, Bohol, Cebu, Baguio to name a few. People are really hospitable. It is a safe country to visit. There may be problems in the government but overall, it is a nice and pleasant country. Also, Thailand should not be in the list too. You cannot say a worst country to visit because it was hit by tsunami a few years ago.

Come on people. This is just a list. It should be viewed as a suggested list of places that might be dangerous. It’s not going to be the same for everyone. The cold hard truth is we are not all equal & different people are more susceptible to particular dangers in certain areas than other people. I just wanted to get an idea of places that maybe I shouldn’t try visiting at this moment due to warfare & violence. Of course this will always be changing. Prejudices & biases aside, there are some places that are inheritently violent right now, I’d like to know which ones. Of course then it gets in to the question of inheritantly violent to which groups of people. ..and so on and so forth.

I see people came and wrote many comments in this topic some are hated their mother country, some hated other countries. But above thing we are born from our father and mother on the land that we have lived.

I am the people of Thailand, sometime I feel that I do not want to live in this country, it is so dull, so boring, so lack of opportunity. I used to work as the dispatcher in the car garage in the casino at USA, it paid me triple much more than I working as a lawyer in Bangkok. I hate it when some people mention about Bangkok as the city of a prostitute. But above thing when i carefully think it’s through. Where there is a demand there will be a supply.

If you go to Thailand to hook up with some prostitute, you will see the prostitute.
If you go to India to visit the diversity of their culture, you will see the beautiful thing inside this country.
If you go to Philippine to take a rest at beautiful beach, you will see beautiful beach.
If you go to Iraq to make some war, you will get back that war. (The hatred of the Iraqi people toward american people coming from the war that they were made)

At present I am satisfy as I living in Bangkok, I might not say it is the best city to live with. But I will say “I lived here happily”.

You cannot judge which country is the worst amongst other countries in the entire world by using you consideration from visiting them for 7 days or 3 months or even 2 years.

The people who lived their for generation have a right to do so as they saw many thing through their ages. But in the end if it turn out in your mind that the country you lived in is terrible. It is your right to decide whether to curse back at your country and run away to another.
