Travel Back in Time on The North Norfolk Railway

The North Norfolk Railway is a preserved railway linking Sheringham, Weybourne and Holt.

If you travel by train to Sheringham in Norfolk, you can cross over the road from the mainline station to the North Norfolk Railway known as the Poppy Line. Walking on to the station is like stepping back in time, the old station building houses a very nice tea room as well as all the usual station facilities.

The timetables varies according to the season and there are many special events throughout the year. The line will take you to Weybourne and on to Holt along a beautiful scenic route along the North Norfolk Coastline.

Weybourne station has an over bridge allowing visitors to view the trains from interesting angles. The line runs a mixture of steam and diesel hauled services, but mostly steam. There is always plenty to see at the station, and young and old alike will be fascinated by the sights, sounds and smells of a the preserved railway.

Holt Station has the added attraction the Holt Flyer a old Routemaster (London red bus) that connects the station with the town. There is a museum at Holt to display some of the artifacts from the days of the Midland and Great Northern Railway.

A day out on the North Norfolk Railway is not just for railway enthusiasts, the beauty and history of the line can be enjoyed be everyone.
