Don’t forget to bring a kit on your next trip!
On the road, you’re more likely to get a stomachache or even fever as your body acclimatizes to a new environment. And you don’t want to get caught in the middle of your family vacation without proper medication, especially when you’re traveling with children. Drugstores and clinics may not always be nearby, so it’s better to think ahead and bring a first aid kit along with some sunblock.
Everytime a family is on a long journey, always be prepared with medicines and medical supplies, most especially if one or more of the family members have hypertension, diabetes, asthma, or hypersensitivity problems.
Pack the following medicines and medical supplies in your travel first aid kits:
1. Antipyretics are drugs that prevent or reduce fever. Doctors recommend Paracetamol at 500mg for adults and syrup preparation for kids.
2. Analgesics are medicines that relieve pain. Mefenamic Acid and Ibuprofen are some examples of analgesics.
3. Anti-emetics like Metoclopramide in 10 mg tablet for adults and syrup preparation for kids are used to treat motion sickness.
4. Anti-vertigo Beta-histine or Cinnarizine can alleviate vertigo symptoms.
5. Antihistamines or anti-allergy medicines like Cetrizine (10ml for adults and syrup preparation for kids) and Benadryl provide relief from allergic reactions.
6. Oral Rehydration Solution in case of diarrhea.
7. Anti-diarrhea medication like Imodium or Diatabs.
8. Emergency and maintenance medicine for a family member presently on medication.
9. Gauze bandage for dressing cuts and burns.
10. Thermometer to check for fever.
11. Band-aid to keep small cuts clean and dirt-free.
12. Micropore to hold bandages in place.
13. Eye drops to treat dry and irritated eyes.
14. Burn ointment to treat mild burns
15. Scissors and tweezers To remove splinters and cut bandages
