Journeys Into America

A description of tips to Disney World and Philadelphia.

A short while ago I took a trip with my girl to Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  Quit an experience!  There are 3-D movies there – real 3D where you think the muppets and the other animated figures are right in front ot you – seemingly floating in mid airWe visited Epcot and saw “wraparound” movies(360 degree screens).  China, the United States and Canadian Epcot centers all had such movies about their country’s heritage

We went on rides like Splash Mountain – a roller coaster where you can get a little wet – and a “white water” rafting ride where we both got soaked.  We saw the “American Idol Experience” where you can vote on the best singers just as you can on the T.V,. show.  Also, we saw “Futurerama” – an exhibit about “progress” where onlookers view an American family throughout several decades as technology changes their lives.  We saw dolls “sing” “It’s a Small World After All”  The dining was excellent – we had a meal plan which was included in our total costs.  We had a French dinner the first night – large scallops and large, tasty shrimp.  We ate at an African buffet one night – all you could eat of prime rib, spicy salads and deserts.  In the theme parks there were stands where you could pick up roast turkey legs.

We saw  so many things that we were tired by the end of the trip.  Unfortunately, our flight to New York was delayed a few hours due to weather conditions.  The airline served us snacks and drinks while we waited.  Eventually we came home to New York.

The very next week we took a bus trip to Philadelphia.  It was interesting.  It is a great place to visit if you like American history.  We saw a few historical films, the Federal Reserve – where they gave out bags of shredded paper money.  We also visited the Mint.  We were privileged to see Independence Hall where we were guided by a knowledgeable docent who knew a lot about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Continental Congress.

The food was good in Philly, too.  We sampled cheese steaks which is the signature dish of the city.  We took a bus back to old New York – planning to visit the “cradle of liberty” once more.
