Virility and Fewer Wrinkles When You Dine in Beijing

In China it is commonplace to eat dogs, cats, snakes and many other things that we in the west would never eat. This, of course, has historical and cultural roots. There has often been such severe famine in the country that people would eat almost anything to stave off starvation. Many Chinese foods have found their way onto Western menus but Guolizhuang’s Penis Restaurant is not likely to become popular among non-Chinese anytime soon.

A visit to the Guolizhuang Restaurant in Beijing is certainly an experience. You may be fond of Chinese food but it would take a very brave person to sample the menu here. Every dish contains animal penis, except one which is made from testicles.

If you are still reading, you might be interested to know that the dishes include ‘Dragon In The Flame of Desire which is yak penis.

‘Head Crowned With A Jade Bracelet’ is horse and then there is the speciality dish of the house which is a hotpot containing a mixture of ten different types of male organ (animal) and testicles, slowly simmered in chicken stock.

One speciality dish is only made to order in advance, because it is very expensive. This is Canadian seal penis.

The restaurant is most popular with Chinese men who believe that eating this food will enhance their yang (virility) . However women frequent the restaurant too because it thought that horse, or donkey penis will make them look younger and get rid of their wrinkles.

Experts in this kind of cuisine say that the meat is stringy, fatty, and sometimes unpleasant in taste, but a good covering of soy sauce makes it quite palatable.

This restaurant is situated in a very clean, smart house in the upmarket West Lake area of Beijing, for those who would like to visit.

Personally, I would rather have wrinkles. Nothing in the world would induce me to eat any of these meat dishes. In fact, I think I might now be just a little bit wary of eating in unfamiliar Chinese restaurants, especially when the menu isn’t translated into English, unless I stick to vegetable dishes.

I don’t think I’d mind, actually. It’s not the wrinkles thing, it’s just to try something new. Yeah, I think I’d give it a go.

I would rather get EXTRA wrinkles than to eat this. I have a strong stomach and eat most everything…but some things are just not meant to be eaten, and this is one of them.

But what about the saying “You are what you eat”? Hmmm…

This was an interesting subject, but I don’t think I would have tackled it.
Thanks & take care.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone.

Yes, Judy, I forgot about that saying. LOL

You say you wouldn’t have tackled the subject! I must admit that I had to be careful with my phrasing but the title was more difficult to choose.

I am known among friends as the man who would eat anything. However, animal willies would make even me think twice! But then I would, oh yes! Just for the experience of course, don’t give a tinker’s toss about my wrinkl…. laughter lines! :-) )
