The important battle of World War-I at the site of Gallipoli pitted the Turkish Army against the armies of six allied nations, including Britain, France, Australia, New Zealand, British India and Ireland. For the Australians and the New Zealanders their entry in the international power arena was made at a high cost of precious lives The Turkish also incurred heavy losses but these were offset by the final result – a decisive moral boosting victory.
