Samokov is 60 km from Sofia at the foot of Rila – the highest Bulgarian mountain. Pointed its silhouette is visible from anywhere in the city and in the foreground stands Maliovishka share, so named because the main peak Malyovitsa. Behind it is submitted and the highest peak of Rila and the Balkans – Musala (2925 m). Rila peaks of snow remained until the summer and the sun reflected there over the city.
