The Philippines is an archipelago in Southeast Asia which is made up of 7,107 islands. The islands are located within the typhoon belt of the Western Pacific and on the northwestern borders of the Pacific Ring of Fire. The country is covered in tropical rainforest that are volcanic in origin. Ecologically, it is one of the most diverse in the world.
