The wildlife in Alaska is plentiful. With the many miles of wilderness there are many animals. The water around Alaska are home to many species of whales and other marine life.

Alaska is a great place to visit to see wildlife in their natural setting. There are so many animals and marine life in Alaska, I had to choose my favorites to show you. I hope you enjoy this visit to Alaska as much as I did.

The Bald Eagle is a very majestic bird. It is a black bird with a white head, neck and tail feathers. The Bald Eagle is able to withstand the cold temperatures of Alaska because their feathers are lined with down. Their feet are mostly tendons are resistance to the cold. When a Bald Eagle takes a mate they stay together for life.

The Great Grey Owl are huge! They have unbelievable hearing. In fact they hear so well, that they can hear a mouse that is hidden under a foot of snow and still manage to get it

The Ram or as people call the the Dall Sheep, live in all the mountain ranges of Alaska. They are creamy white, with a thick curling horns. They do have many predators such as the coyotes, grizzly bears, wolves and several others

Elk belong to the deer family and do resemble deer but are much larger, especially their antlers, they are huge. The Elk do shed their antlers in the winter and get new ones back in the summer.

..The Moose is a very large animal. It has a large brown almost black body and long legs. The moose eats a variety of things. In the fall and winter they eat large amounts twigs. In the springtime they like to graze pondweeds and grasses. Then in the summer they eat from shallow ponds and leaves off of trees. The Moose is hunted more than any other animal in Alaska.

The Grizzly Bear or as people refer to them as the Brown Bear should always be treated with respect. You must be very careful around this animal. They are very protective of their young and will attack. The Grizzly Bears do hibernate in the winter months in Alaska

Most Humpback Whales are 40 to 50 feet in length. They can weigh up to 40 tons. They eat huge amounts of small fish. Both the male and female sing, but it is typically the male who sings the whalesong.

.Orcas are known for their beautiful black and white bodies. They live in close family groups. When a mother gives birth, that newborn usually stays within the group for its entire life. Many humans fear them thinking they will be attacked by them, but they are not known to attack humans. They generally eat fish.

The Sea Otters are incredible creatures. They are an endangered animal. They are a member of the weasel family. Unlike some animals that have blubber to keep them warm in Alaska, the Sea Otter only has its fur. It has to keep its fur very clean. It is constantly grooming, to keep itself clean. Sea Otters like eating fish, crabs and clams.
