Vancouver 2010 is The Greenest

Vancouver 2010 winter games will be the greenest ever being held in history. Canadians stand strong and proud of this feat and accomplishment.
The coming winter Olympic Games in Vancouver will be the greenest Olympics the world has ever hosted. This should be a continued contribution for further Olympics to come. The amount of carbons emitted from hosting Olympic Games can be astounding. Cutting back on energy, harnessing clean power and fuel and using recycled materials to make items needed should be considered as they were for Vancouver this coming year.
Here are some of the ways that the Olympic Games have harnessed the power of clean energy.
1) The Whistler sliding Centre will be taking energy from the refrigeration system for the ice and that energy will be recycled to other buildings for heat.
2) The roof at the Richard Olympic Oval has a system that collects rain water which will be used to help with toilets through the Olympic Games. The water will also be stored in a pond and used to water surrounding agriculture.
3) Generators that are portable can emit many carbons. BC Hydro has partnered up with the Olympics and is offering them hydro electric power that is clean.
4) Public transit has expanded for the winter games, this helps to cut back on fuel which helps with carbon emissions.
I strongly urge those who are attending to bring a water bottle or coffee mug. If you are planning on watching the games regularly, why not conserve energy by inviting others over and sharing one television to limit carbons?
A fact worth noting is that the Vancouver Winter Games have decreased greenhouse gases by 90 percent from any generators. All venues for competition had to under go environmental valuations. This was crucial for both people and nature.
The Vancouver 2010 Olympics is just around the corner and is about to begin on February 12, 2010. To offer support to athletes you can visit the main site or you can make a donation to help the athletes by visiting the Canadian Olympic Foundation.
