Beautiful Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks Waterfalls

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks contain an impressive array of long, high and powerful waterfalls.
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in California are well known for the huge sequoia trees that reside there but the parks also have some impressive and beautiful high country waterfalls.
Grizzly Falls

Grizzly Falls is probably the best known and most impressive waterfall in the Kings Canyon area. It drops some 75 feet along Kings River right along Highway 180 just before you enter the National Park. There is a parking lot for Grizzly Falls and you can see the falls from the road and the parking lot. During dry spells Grizzly Falls can be reduced to a single flow though still impressive waterfall.

Tenmile Creek Falls

Tenmile Creek Falls is a series of cascades that drop at least 350 feet as the Tenmile Creek descends from Hume Lake to where it joins the Kings River. You can see Tenmile Creek Falls right along Highway 180 right about at the midpoint between Grant Grove and Cedar Grove.
Mist Falls

Mist Falls drops some 60 feet along the South Fork of the Kings River and when the water flow is high this waterfall lives up to its name and sprays plenty of mist around. You have to hike 8 miles round-trip to see Mist Falls. To reach the trail-head you drive to Road’s End of Highway 180 about 5 miles east of Cedar Grove Village.

Roaring River Falls

Roaring River Falls drops some 40 feet over a couple of stages which takes the Roaring River right through a narrow granite chute in lovely fashion. Roaring River Falls is located right off Highway 180 about 3 miles east of the Village turnoff. There is a parking lot for the falls and a short 5 minute hike takes you right to this forceful natural beauty.

Tokopah Falls

Tokopah Falls drops a very impressive 1,200 or so feet along the Marble Fork Kaweah River in Sequoia National Park. The falls can get light during dry spells but is pretty spectacular in the Spring during the snow melt run-off. To reach the falls you need to take one of the most popular hikes in the park beginning at the bridge where Highway 198 (Generals Highway) goes over the Marble Fork Kaweah River right near the Lodgepole Campgrounds.

Marble Falls

Marble Falls is a long series of waterfalls along the Marble Fork Kaweah River located about a mile from Tokopah Falls. People are strongly warned not to try and hike up to the upper parts of Marble Falls as they are very steep and fast flowing and people have died here. To reach the falls you need to hike from a trail-head you can access at the Potwisha campground along Highway 198 the Generals Highway.
Black Wolf Falls

Black Wolf Falls is a roughly 50 foot high waterfall that can be seen right from the road in the Mineral King section of Sequoia past Silver City on the Mineral King Road Trail. If you hike to the falls there is also an abandoned copper mine nearby.

Mighty Sequoia Tree

Sequoia trees are majestic and almost unimaginable in their size. If you have never seen one in person you owe it to yourself to do so and believe me you will not regret it.

Another great tour, Joe! I’ve seen a Sequoia here in the UK, but it’s not that old compared to the ones as in your picture. To see one of the true giants would be awesome.
