Eagle Falls is a Lake Tahoe Waterfall Gem

Eagle Falls is a spectacular waterfall that overlooks the magnificent beauty of Lake Tahoe in eastern California.
Eagle Falls drops spectacularly along Eagle Creek in the mountains just above beautiful Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe in California.

Eagle Falls is actually two separate waterfalls with Upper Eagle Falls dropping some 40 feet while the much more splendid and awe inspiring Lower Eagle Falls drops 140 total feet. Topping off the whole experience of visiting Eagle Falls is the fantastic views overlooking Emerald Bay, Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains available from the top of the falls.

If you visit Eagle Falls please use common sense and be careful as tourists have died here by slipping and going over the falls.

Eagle Falls is very easy to get to and is also a very popular place. From the town of South Lake Tahoe take Highway 89 north up the lake for 8.5 miles and look for the the Eagle Falls parking lot. If the lot is full park in Emerald Bay State Park just up the road. The trail-head to the falls is at the Eagle Falls parking lot and the hike to the falls is not long. You can see Lower Eagle Falls from the parking area.

Visiting Eagle Falls is a great experience for anyone in the Lake Tahoe area and most tourists come away with at least as good a time here as they get from the nearby casinos available on the Nevada side of the lake. Eagle Falls flows year round but is best viewed during the Spring run-off.

For more great California waterfalls please see McWay Falls, Burney Falls the Eighth Wonder of the World, Darwin Falls in Death Valley, Fantastic Waterfalls of Yosemite, Alamere Falls, Spectacular Feather Falls and Beautiful Waterfalls of Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
