Feather Falls is a Spectacular California Waterfall

Feather Falls is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in California.
Feather Falls is a spectacular 410 foot high waterfall located along Fall River in North-central California northeast of Oroville and about 90 miles north of Sacramento.

Feather Falls is very reminiscent of the Yosemite National Park waterfalls but has a unique beauty all its own and is probably at least 200 miles north of Yosemite. Teddy Roosevelt called Burney Falls, which is north of Feather Falls, “the Eighth Wonder of the World” which makes me think old TR never saw Feather Falls as it certainly rivals the best Yosemite waterfalls, Burney Falls and the two California tidefalls McWay Falls and Alamere Falls as the prettiest waterfall in the state.

To reach Feather Falls you have to hike the Feather Falls National Recreation Trail which is roughly a 8-9 mile total round trip hike. To get to the trail-head from Oroville take Highway 162 east out of town for roughly 7 miles until you reach Forbestown Road where you turn right. Take Forbestown Road for about 6 miles until you reach Lumpkin Road where you turn left. After about 11 miles on Lumpkin Road start looking for the Feather Falls Trail-head turnoff and turn left and follow that road until you see the Feather Falls parking lot where the trail-head is.

Love ‘em! Wish I could see every last one of them in person – that would be awesome.
