Colorado is known for its outdoor vacation options, however, it is also the home of the Telluride Film Festival. This film festival is held in September of each year, for example in 2009 it was scheduled for September 4 through 7. This film festival is dedicated to promoting up and coming independent filmmakers. It is also a great festival to attend if you want to tie festival attendance in with a great outdoor vacation.
Telluride, Colorado Hotels
Unlike Denver, Colorado, Telluride has a limited selection of hotels to choose between. The first option that you have is the Lumiere Hotel. It can be found at 118 Lost Creek Lane.
The second option that you have is the Ice House Lodge. This is a three star hotel that can be found at 310 South Fir Street. It offers an on-site restaurant and swimming pool. It is also close to many of the area’s top tourist attractions.
The third lodging option that you have for Telluride, Colorado is the Camel’s Garden Hotel and Condominiums. This option is found at 250 West San Juan Avenue. This is a great option if you are traveling with a large group of people, or if you will be sharing accommodations with other filmmakers and festival attendees.

Telluride, Colorado Attractions
While you are in Telluride, Colorado you will want to spend some time enjoying the local attractions. Since the film festival is held at the beginning of September the weather is still good enough to enjoy the great outdoors. One fun attraction to visit is the Mountain Village. To get this attraction you will need to go to Station Telluride and take an eleven minute gondola ride to the Mountain Village. Here you can go hiking and enjoy breathtaking views.
If you are interested in learning more about the history of the area then you will want to visit the Telluride Historical Museum. It can be found at 201 West Gregory Avenue. Here you will learn all about Telluride and the Wild West days of Colorado.
If you are interested in a more active adventure then consider riding on the San Juan Hut System. The San Juan Hut System is a 206 mile long trail that will take you from Telluride, Colorado to Moab, Utah. To make this distance a bit more manageable there are fully equipped rest stops every 36 miles along the trail. You can use these huts or camp outside.
Another top outdoor attraction that you will not want to miss is the Bridal Veil Falls. This waterfall is the state’s longest free falling waterfall. It can be found about .2 miles from the Ice House Lodge.
