Where to stay and what to see. Niagara Falls.
If you are looking for an excellent Bed and Breakfast, you must visit the Butler house. It has air conditioned rooms, private baths and a full gourmet breakfast. Located in downtown Niagara Falls, it is close to the Falls and Canada. The Butler House is open year round to accommodate any traveler. The Falls is located in a natural and park setting and there is much to explore. There is a unique look from the American side and a whole different look from the Canadian side. If this is your destination, you really need to explore both sides. You get a close up and personal view steps away from the water, only surrounded by natural open fences. A must see is the Cave of the Winds. First you descend in the elevator and are issued a raincoat. Make sure you wear it because ,you will need it. You then follow the wooden stairs starting at the base of the Falls. It gives you an entirely different view of the Falls. At the base aside from the rushing water is a very calm and serene place, where birds flock and flowers grow. You climb the steps along the side of the rushing water until you reach the top step. This top step is called Hurricane Deck and you will get soaked. It gives you a view of the bottom and all the huge rocks that are located there. You must experience the Maid of the Mist Boat trip. A close up view, how treacherous the water really is. At times it is hard to keep your eyes open because the water is like a rainstorm blowing in your face. The best way to describe it is, it is like being in the ocean during a huge storm. The boat takes you close to the base. It is a very unique experience and you will not want to miss it. When back on upper ground, take the time to explore the history of the falls. There are trails and believe it or not you can go right up to the water, which is very calm, close to the Falls. Please do not enter the water, it looks safe and serene but is actually dangerous. It is calm in one area and right around the corner it gets rougher and if caught in the rapid moving water, you could go over the falls, that’show close it is. There have many suicides in this area as well as the occasional daredevil thinking they can go over in a barrel. The park setting makes beautiful backgrounds for wedding photos and Niagara Falls is still The Honeymoon Capital of The World.
