A brief description of the opening on Disney World.
The opening of Disney Land was a great accomplishment for Walt Disney. He was inspired by other amusement parks. The trash all over the parks and the bored, restless adults inspired him to create an amusement park that was perfect.
He planned the park out carefully and realized it was a multi-million dollar park. He invested his whole life savings plus $100,000 from his life insurance to start . He later used television to advertise and generate funds with television shows. Eventually, he was sponsored by other companies including ABC.
When time came to buy land for the park, a friend of his found a large plot of land in Orange County for a cheap price. Walt Disney bought it. The park was built and he spent every penny he had on it. The park had many activities and he maid sure kids and adults would have fun in the park.
On opening day July 17th 1955 the park was not yet completed. He did not want to push the date back so he opened the gates Thousands of people entered the park. There was not enough food, water and trash cans for the park. The paint and concrete were also wet. The opening day was called black Sunday.
Now 23 million people visit the park each year. This includes royalty, and celebrities. Walt Disney decided to build another park called Disney World. This park would contain sub-parks inside it and have new features like Cinderella’s castle. He also created a whole line of Disney shows and movies. Although opening day of his park was a disaster, now it is a cultural phenomenon.
