Versailles Restaurant: The Best Cuban Food in Little Havana
by sunshine926 on 03/11/09 at 10:26 am
Located on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Miami; Versailles Restaurant offers a variety of Cuban mouth-watering dishes and pastries.
The smell of Cuban food has a certain distinction. The flavor and aroma of a fried Cuban steak with golden french fries reminds me of my grandmother’s cooking.
Versailles Restaurant, located on Calle Ocho in Little Havana, Miami is ornated with elegant glass doors.Founded in 1971, the popular casual establishment and bakery is where older Cuban men gather to reminisce about nostalgic Cuba.
As a child, I used to go to Versailles for dinner on the weekends. My favorite dish was a Palomilla steak, moros and maduros. Several years later, I still dine at Versailles Restaurant with my family and friends. Another favorite dish is cal do Gall ego. A cal do gall ego is a white bean soup with beef, potato and chunks of sausage.
After dinner, nothing taste better than a cortadito or Cuban colada. If you are in the mood for dessert, you can order a flan. A flan is an egg custard dipped in heavy caramel or syrup. Flan comes in an array of flavors from regular to cream cheese. Another alternative to flan is arr oz con leche or rice pudding. As a child, my mother made arr oz con leche and flan for dessert.
