More Than Southern Hospitality

A look at the new age of an old city.

Atlanta has all the intrigue of a big city with a touch of Southern hospitality. The combination has become an attraction that is enticing more and more people to visit or move to the metro area. With an abundance of parks, cultural activities, restaurants, social events, residential neighborhoods and entertainment venues, Atlanta has something to offer every tourist and every resident.

No matter what your social or business life, this great city is sure to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.

One of the things luring a younger crowd to Atlanta is the number of Universities that grace the city. In addition to University of Georgia, Georgia Tech, Emory University, Georgia State University, and the numerous community and vocational colleges, Atlanta is home to a cluster of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). The downtown area is the home of the Atlanta University Center (AUC) which is comprised of Morris Brown, Clark Atlanta, Spelman, and Morehouse. No matter which school, many of the students who enroll at these schools stay in Atlanta after graduation because of the multitude of employment opportunities available to them.

One of Atlanta’s most popular parks is Centennial Olympic Park, originally a picturesque gathering space for visitors and residents during the 1996 Centennial Olympic Games. The main attraction is the Olympic Ring-shaped fountain. The park is filled with children in swimsuits running through the fountain on a hot summer day. Periodically, the fountain becomes a musical water show where the water dances to music creating a spectacular performance that dazzles children and parents alike. Other notable parks in the city include Piedmont Park, which is host to several cultural and music festivals during the year, and Grant Park, which sits beside the Atlanta Zoo and the Cyclorama, a museum dedicated to Civil War memorabilia.

You have to experience Atlanta’s night life to get a true taste of the city. Atlanta’s after-dark scene is just one more example of the diversity the city has to offer. From dance clubs, to jazz spots, to sports bars, the city is bustling with people finding their own way to unwind.
