The Chattahoochee Trail

The Chattahoochee trail is our favorite place to walk. It’s green, it’s beautiful and it’s along the river.

We are avid walkers on the Chattahoochee trail in the fall and spring. We go ocassionally on good days in winter and summer but in cool seasons we really love it. The trail is about three miles along the river and circles back through the woods. We see people walking their dogs, strolling, and jogging. Sometimes couples looking for privacy. Fern grows throughout the woods and we cross several streams with minnows and fish. A natural swamp is a good resting place for wild ducks and geese. They are a splendid sight with all their different colors. Sometimes we see beavers in the swamp and cranes on the river. A morning or afternoon walk in these woods and fields along the river are refreshment for mind and body.

Wild honeysuckles are blooming and climbing all over the bushes and brambles. Did anyone sip honeysuckle nectar as a child? I had to pull off a few stems and refresh my memony. It still tastes just as sweet.

Blackberries were blooming and I could see some tiny green berries beginning to take form. The last week in June I will take a couple of buckets and pick these juicy berries to make a pie and put up the rest for pies later on. If I am not too lazy I will go pick more before the berries are gone.

We saw this crane on the river. He looked lonely as if he were waiting for another crane to join him. He didn’t seem to be in any hurry and we left him in peace to his waiting.

These yellow wild flowers are outstanding this year. The field is a mass of yellow and from a distance it looks like a thick fluffy yellow sheet laying across the field.
I enjoyed our walk yesterday and I hope you enjoyed strolling along with me as I replayed it today. I wish you many enyoyable walks along your rivers and fields and may the sun shine brightly on us all.

I did enjoy your stroll. I have just come back from a four mile harbour and beach walk wwhich I try to do several times a week to help lose this weight. There is nothing like a good walk for relieving stress, which I am sure your river one does too. A nice article.

Ruby,
Send me directions to your house so I can go on this walk too! LOL
It looks like a very beautiful place. My place for getting my mind aired out is ManLove Park. Its about seven miles from where I live. I go their quite a bit during the summer. Its very quiet, and it gets my creative juices flowing again. You did a great job taking the pictures. I felt like I was on this walk with you. Excellent writing too!!! Keep up the great work Ruby!!!

Beautiful walk! I could almost smell the honeysuckle. I think the crane might have been waiting for his dinner.

Thank you my friends, and Christine good for you. I don’t know if we walk 4 miles but it’s a good walk for us. It’s so much better than the treadmill. That is so boring it’s hard to stay with it an hour.
Thanks for your comments and interest.I try to have my camera with me but sometimes I miss the very best pictures anyway. I hope everyone enjoys many good nature walks throughout the summer.
Randy its good go see you back. You were missed and you can come walk with me anytime.
