Our Hawaiian neighbors.
Hawii is as beautiful as it is apart from the Americas, or China. The Hawaiians come into this country and work hard as clusters of family groups and in occupations that affect our life syle in a quiet, persistant way such a Restaurants, Dry Cleaning. They are sensitive and fairly bright but non-commital and a little foreign in their style of communicating with others. In a time of war their style of working in our society is well tuned to survival sometimes at the expense of someone like me. Still as the rampage dies down I wish I know the Hawaiians better.
I sense that the virtuous life holds much appeal for the Hawaiins. Their friends mean much more to them than their enemies. I can believe that the Hawaiins make good neighbors. The reason Hawaiians seem distant is that we have not had enough Hawaiian neighbors. I mean next door neighbors.
A real puzzle for me is why Hawaiian’s do not pursue the professions? Wayne Dyer lived in Hawaii and I know he has the answer to that mystery. I would invite the Hawaiian Nationals into the business arena because for one thing, they want to be invited. For another think, they are good business people.
I feel lucky to know my Hawaiian friends and I will not forget them when I go to live in Russia. I hope that I will still be able to meet, work, and live with the men and women who represent the Island Paradise of Hawaii.
