Interesting Things to See in The Macon, Georgia Area

Macon, Georgia has a lot of things to see and do. A lot of people that I’ve met think that just because Macon is a college town there’s nothing to really do or see. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

Macon, Georgia has a ton of places that’s on the United States Registry of Historic Sites. The archetecture of Macon ranges from pre-Civil War through Victorian and into modern styles. There are several neighborhoods that have at least half the houses in them having been built before the Civil War and even having been built during the beginning of the Twentieth Century. In the area around Macon there are several National as well as State parks. There’s some Indian Mounds that’s just within the the city limits of Macon. There’s also a half dozen city parks that I know of. For me the highlight of the year is the Cherry Blossom Festival. During this festival, there’s literally roughly over a hundred things to do and see. It lasts for ten days and is quite exciting. Even if you’re not religious or even Catholic, I highly recommend that any visitor to Macon visit Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The interior of the church is breathtaking. There’s also several museums in downtown Macon. Macon also has dozens of small independant restaurants to experiece. My absolute favorite is Joshua Cup. At Joshua Cup all the employees are extremely friendly and the service is beyond description. I also can’t begin to describe how awesome the food at Josha Cup is. They also have free WiFi. The decor of Joshua Cup is eclectic and is extremely comfortable. If you’re ever in Macon, Georgia…I highly recommend that you visit Joshua Cup at least once during your stay here.
