A collection of beautiful waterfalls found in the state of Maryland.
Muddy Creek Falls

Muddy Creek Falls is located in western Maryland right near the West Virginia border in Swallow Falls State Park about 9 miles north of Oakland, Maryland. Muddy Creek Falls drops some 53 feet along Muddy Creek which makes this the tallest single drop waterfall in Maryland. It is one nice looking waterfall.
Patapsco Falls – Cascade Falls

Located in Patapsco Valley State Park are three nice waterfalls. None of three is large or particularly powerful but all three are pretty and located not too far from Baltimore.

Patapsco Valley State Park is located in central Maryland and the Orange Grove section that contains the waterfalls is not far from I-95 and can be accessed along River Road in the park. The falls pictured below is called the Cascades.

Kilgore Falls

Kilgore Falls is located in north-central Maryland along Falling Branch which is a tributary of Deer Creek. Kilgore falls is part of Rocks State Park but is actually located about 5 miles north of the main park where Falling Branch drops roughly 30 feet making the falls the second highest vertical drop falls in Maryland. The falls is also known as Falling Branch Falls. To reach the falls take Route 24 north from Rocks State Park and then take a left on St. Mary’s Road. Then turn right onto Falling Branch Road and look for the parking lot for the falls.

Little Gunpowder Falls

Waterfall located along the Little Gunpowder Falls River in Gunpowder Falls State Park in northeast Maryland.
Tolliver Falls

Tolliver Falls is nice little scenic waterfall in Swallow Falls State Park in western Maryland in Swallow Falls State Park located about 9 miles north of Oakland, Maryland.

Gunpowder Falls

Waterfall located in Gunpowder State Park located northeast of Baltimore.
Cunningham Falls

Cunningham Falls is a cascading waterfall that drops some 78 total feet in the Catoctin Mountains in Cunningham Falls State Park located in northern Maryland just outside Thurmont. Cunningham Falls is probably the tallest total waterfall in Maryland.
Loch Raven Dam

The Loch Raven Dam is located along the Big Gunpowder Falls River north of Baltimore. The reservoir created by the dam supplies most of the drinking water for Baltimore. It was built from 1912-1914 and was rehabilitated and stabilized in 2003.
Great Falls of the Potomac

Located in Mather Gorge along the Potomac River about 15 miles upstream from Washington, DC is the Great Falls of the Potomac. The river is the border between Maryland and Virginia so technically the falls are in both states.

The Potomac River falls roughly 80 feet here spaced out roughly over 1 mile with with a few 20 foot high drops all contained inside Great Falls Park which is run by the National Park Service. The park is popular with hikers, rock climbers and whitewater enthusiasts in rafts and kayaks.

Swallow Falls

Swallow Falls drops some twenty feet along the Youghiogheny River in Swallow Falls State Park located in western Maryland about 9 miles north of Oakland. Probably the least scenic of the three waterfalls in the park with Muddy Creek and Tolliver Falls being far more photogenic.
Cascade Falls

This Cascade Falls is located in Potomac State Forest in western Maryland near Oakland and is not to be confused with the Cascade Falls located in Patapsco Valley State Park.
