Minnesota is home to some unique looking water towers, from the humorous Paul Bunyan’s Fishing Bobber, to the distinct historical landmark known as the Witches Hat.

Rochester, Minnesota is home to this gigantic ear of corn! It was constructed in 1931, and according to the RochesterMn.com website, is painted as a true representation of a cob of corn as to the number or rows of kernels.

Pequot Lakes, Minnesota enjoys a view of the humorous and massive Paul Bunyan’s Fishing Bobber that held the town’s water supply until recently when a new water tower was built. The town still keeps the Fishing Bobber around…and who can blame them, with such a unique thing like that? I’d keep it, too.

This teapot water tower can be found in Lindstrom, Minnesota. It was used from 1902-1990. Some argue that it is really a Swedish coffee pot, and not a teapot. Either way, it looks fabulous to me.

A well known landmark is the ole water tower in Brainerd, Minnesota. Over the years, it has been viewed as many things, such as Babe’s hitching post, Paul Bunyan’s flashlight, or a castle. It is no longer used as a water tower, and is in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Washburn Park Water Tower in Minneapolis is built from stone. The eagle designs are 8 feet across, and the “angels” are 18 feet high. It is in the National Register of Historic Places.

An old limestone water tower graces the skyline in Kasson, Minnesota. It reminds me a bit of a lighthouse. It was actually built in 1895, so it is a long-standing recognizable landmark! It is in the National Register of Historic Places.

This beautiful water tower, also in the National Register of Historical Places, resides in Highland Park, Minnesota.

The Witches Hat is a distinctive marker in Prospect Park, Minnesota. It magnificently stands out on the horizon. What a sight! It was built in 1913 and is in the National Register of Historic Places.

Thanks for this! I live in Minnesota, inbetween the Bobber and Paul Bunyan’s hitching post, but had no idea there were so many other unique old water towers out there.

Thank’s everyone for your comments. I love creative and unique “stuff” and when it is really big like a water tower, it catches my eye! Katie, I’ve driven by the bobber and the hitching post many times…it’s a beautiful area you live in! We used to go to Paul Bunyan’s Place in Brainerd before it closed down.
