Las Vegas: Seven Places for French Food

A list of some French-inspired locations and cuisine in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Las Vegas, Nevada may not be the first place you think of to indulge in French cuisine. But if one’s francophile fantasies need to be satisfied in the Mojave Desert, there are several options.

Here is a list of some French-inspired locations and restaurants that will have you going oooh la la.
1) Paris Las Vegas.Obviously, Paris Las Vegas needs to be on this list. With an Eiffel Tower replica in miniature and a French vibe inside, this is a major place to quench a francophile’s thirst. Dine at Mon Ami Gabi and request a patio seat so you can view the Bellagio fountains from across the street. After dinner, stroll through the casino and opt for a little cafe au lait detour complete with some desserts a la France.
2) Pamplemousse. This restaurant may be easily missed, as it is a little bungalow just off the Strip. But for people in the know, this is the place to be. There is no proper menu, as the delicious offerings change daily. However, the famous crudite salad is always the same – a beautiful basket of fresh veggies ready for dipping. The Pamplemousse vibe may best be described as a charming French country cottage with exquisite cuisine. It is classic Vegas meets French villa. It is just plain divine.
3) Alize at the Palms. This is one fancy locale. At the top of the Palms, it has an excellent view of the Strip and surrounding Las Vegas Valley and offers a fine selection of French-inspired cuisine.
4) Marche Bacchus French Bistro & Wine Market. Another away from the Strip location, this is in quite far away from the traditional tourist track. Enjoy the cozy outdoor dining area next to a little lake (it’s man-made, but you probably already figured so, given this is Las Vegas). In addition to frequent live jazz evenings, Marche Bacchus often offers complimentary wine tasting events. Don’t forget to browse the market before leaving. You probably will find a great wine to bring home with you.
5) Andre’s French Restaurant. A renovated Las Vegas classic that made a move from an old home to the Monte Carlo. Chic and sexy in its new reincarnation, its traditional French food will still impress the taste buds. Same owner and chef of the newer Alize (see #3).
6) Morels French Steakhouse. This isn’t strictly classic French cuisine, due to other international influences. However, French food still abounds. More of a hip lounge type of vibe reigns here.
7) Josette’s Bistro- With good food from sandwiches at lunch to traditional French entrees for dinner, this cozy bistro is away from the action of the Strip. Perhaps the most unique thing about it is the involvement of Josette, the owner and chef, in hosting all her guests. Energetic and sweet, she is always checking up on her diners, making sure all is well. With images of her throughout the restaurant it does seem strange at first to actually be interacting with her, but her passion and talent for what she does makes any folly forgivable.
Bon appetit!

#7 is supposed to be Josette’s but it didn’t show up – it a cozy little bistro away from the Strip.

Las Vegas is wonderful, I lived there for a while and loved it. Not only do they have great places to eat there are wonderful shows as well as a lot of things to do for free. Great writing.

weegysgram: Cool. I agree. I do love Las Vegas, but I guess, usually people have an unexplainable adoration for the place they were born and raised. It just always feels like home.

I haven’t been to Las Vegas in years. If I ever get the chance to go back, I’d like to go to Pamplemousse. You’ve made it sound as though it’s simply divine. Great article!

Joni: Yes, if you do make it back to Las Vegas, check out Pamplemousse… it is pretty spendy, but it is totally worth it, especially on vacation. It is “simply divine” as you said : ).

I love French food but in these economic times it’s too expensive. But if I win some money on the lotto, I will definitely be visiting some of my favourite French restaurants.

Dee: Thanks!
hiho: Very true about the expensive. Everyone seems to be eating out less (or not at all) these days… I haven’t been to a French restaurant in a while, but on this list Josette’s Bistro actually has decent prices. It’s not on the Strip so it is more standard restaurant prices.
