Editorial Comments

Jun 20, 2009 – Please revise this introduction. In addition to being too short, none of the sentences should be included in the revision. “Going to see a Yankees game? Planning a nice vacation in New York?” Avoid asking rhetorical or incomplete questions of the reader. This adds nothing to their knowledge of the subject at hand. “Read on to find hotels near the stadium. The following are all five-star hotels within 10 miles from Yankee Stadium.” Never use language like “read on to…” or “the following steps.” This is filler language. Here’s a quote from the style guide to help you with the revision: “This opening statement summarizes the general information that everyone should know about the topic. The Overview is the best place to provide background information and to explain the relevancy of the topic.”
Also, please do not include “location:” before you write each contact information. Here is the proper formatting:
What TO do:
Section Header: Facility Name
Information about the facility. blah blah blah blah blah…….
Name of Facility
9999 Main Street
Portland, OR 99999
Tel: (999) 999-9999
facilityname.com (notice that there is no http:// because it makes an active link). What the lead editors have said is that you can put a website name in the section of a travel article, but no URL. The URL portion that they are referring to is the http:// I hope this helps your rewrite process. Thanks so much for your work.
