This 66 foot neon pop bottle stands outside POPS in Arcadia, OK. And pop they have, inside you will find over 500 hundred different sodas and drinks to choose from in the coolers. Cherry, strawberry, root beer, orange, green apple, lemonade, pineapple, sarsaparilla, chocolate, grape, just to name a few. And of course they also carry Coke, Dr. Pepper, Pepsi, Mt Dew and other favorites. You may find it difficult to make a selection with so many to choose from. Want to send a unique gift to a brother, sister, nephew, niece, grandchild, friend or other loved one then check out the soda Kiosk where you can choose from over 700 flavors to purchase and send. Or you may want to just stock up your own pantry and have it shipped and delivered to your own home.
The architecture of the building is a masterpiece featuring an unsupported canopy that extends 100 feet over the gas pumps. Glass shelves line the glass front of the building and holds a colorful display of pop bottles. Step out the back door to a patio that overlooks an area that features Oklahoma’s State Tree, the Redbud. And how many would you expect to see? Well of course with POPS being located on Route 66, a 66 foot soda bottle standing out front, there would have to be 66 redbud trees.
Along with soda and gas the convenience store also has a cafe inside that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their burgers are the best! My choice is a burger, fries, and shake before selecting a soda for the road.
Enjoy a leisurely day and get in the car or my choice on a nice day get on my motorcycle and enjoy a drive on Route 66 and visit Pops in Arcadia. Do you have a favorite soda from childhood? I bet you will be able to find it here. My favorite is a Chocolate Solider, as I remember visiting my grandparents at Tenkiller Lake as a child and we always had to go to the bait shop to get a Chocolate Soldier from the old time chest type soda coolers that were always filled with something cold to drink.
I hope you get a chance to take a break, relax, sit back at POPS to enjoy your favorite soda and maybe do some reminising.
